BONG PENARA X 3....Some summer sounds for the winter!
(In the Northern Hemisphere anyway!)

A SAMBA SONG(Penny Rose Records, Manila, Philippines, 1976)

BATUCADA SA CALESA (CBS/Sony, Manila & Japan, 1977)

BONG PENERA (Blackgold Records, 1980)

From Wikipilipinas;

'Bong Peñera and his various band incarnations under the name
Batucada are considered the main proponent of Brazilian-influenced
Philippine jazz, particularly samba and bossa nova. Peñera and the
Batucada band were influenced by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud
Gilberto, Sergio Mendes, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and Deodato'.

Some nice Acoustic piano/Rhodes led Bossa/Samba
Thanks to Quimsy for 'Samba Song'...other two I don't know
where/when I picked them up but thanks to original providers!
Don't see any live links for these anywhere any more....so.......

Enjoy !

SIMEON SHTEREV QUARTET - 'MEMORY'
OOP/NO CD:  SIMEON SHTEREV QUARTET

Not my Rip...but don't see this out in Blogland...Bulgarian Flautist
Simeon Shterev's LP from 1978.
This is a great Album from start to finish....loads of nice Flute
loads of Rhodes Piano....Great Musicianship from a nice tight
Quartet playing catchy funky H H Headhunters / RTF type tunes!

Well worth a Re-Issue...if you haven't already got it I'm sure you'll
enjoy it as much as I do.
Six great tracks including a nice covers of  Stanley Clarke's 'Bass
Folksong' and Chick Corea's 'Senor Mouse'.
Standouts for me being  Sunset/Sunrise, Memory and Sunbeam..

Enjoy Bulgarian Loveliness !

What do you think ?

GIANTS ! (Vinyl, Flac)

From 1978 'GIANTS' ! Oop, no CD release.
This LP is basically a coming together of the late 60's early 70's
Santana Band, with guests.....Herbie Hancock, Lee Oskar (War)
etc......
Bit of a 50/50 Album with 3 good tracks and 3 so & so's.
Half Latin, half Disco funk influence. The Latin being the
best tracks in my humble opinion.
Worth alone though for 'Pancho Villa' .The other 2 standouts
for me being 'Kilimanjaro/Summit' and 'Fried Neckbones and
Home Fries'.
Not my rip but the first time I've seen available in FLAC. (Vinyl)
Use my Link or go to the Original upload here with 3 more Links:

OOP/NO CD:  VARIS - VARIS 1979

German Fusion band Varis...only LP I know of no info found on
Discogs.
This was posted on prognotfrog but the link is long dead.
This is not my rip was taken from a Russian music share site so
is in mp3 @ 320.
Flutes,Horns, Rhodes etc..Some fragile sounding vocals on Track 4
'Moonlight Voice'..which I didn't like at first but grew on me with
each listen.
All in all a nice Album that deserves to be Out There...give it a go!
Track 2 is My fav'...The  Melancholy Horn laden 'Ophelia'

Enjoy !

VA - FLOATING WITH THE JAPANESE - COMP 2

My second Mix. By no means definitive...just what I've
sifted out to date. This 'to date' mix I have saved in Winamp
I burnt to a CD then ripped back in Wav.....Hence the big
File.(now also in 320!)
Most where Flac from my collection and some Mp3 dloads
from other Blogs etc....(Thanks goes out to the bloggers!)

I use music to relax therefore I lean towards Mellow,
Melancholy and generally low BPM tracks...preferably
containing Fender Rhodes piano....and that's what you'll
find in the Mix.
This is a GREAT (Even If I do say so myself) Mix in that vein.
I'm sure you'll enjoy!!...Mostly Instrumental...with Loads of
Rhodes..fantastic memorable melodies, and the odd vocal
accompaniment...shit... even Minnie rip's in there...may contain
a few SURPRISES.....Load up...Lay Back....and Float with the
Japanese !!

Relax....Tanoshimi (Wav)
@320 !

Comments on this one...Please!!

OOP / NO CD.....GUNTHER DOUBLE HEADER !

Over to former GDR for 2 Lp's from Gunther Fischer.
These are not my rips but I only see them accessible on a
Russian Music  forum at the moment....plus they're uploaded
Russia's 'i folder' which has about 4 steps before you access
the folder...which if you don't read the language is lots of
copying and pasting in translate......so I've made it easier!

First up...Gunther Fischer Quintett - Kombination 1978
I think this was first posted back in 2008 on the great Blog
'Djalma's Soul Food' but the link has well expired...
Djalmas description sums it up nicely:

'German Democratic Republic sure had some Holy Grails and this one could be one of them! And the beat heads will surely find some useful samples on it, like that drum break at the beginning of the "Kombination"! I couldn't find any info on the net so I'll just let the music speak for itself... Peace... '

Next up is the Sound Track to 'Solo Sunny' 1979(!?)
Solo Sunny, released in 1980 is an  East German drama Film Directed by Konrad Wolf and Wolfgang Kohlhaase.
Sunny is the singer of band trying to establish itself in the music-scene of East-Berlin. They play regular gigs in small towns, but Sunny feels out of touch with the audience and her life as a whole. She begins a relationship with the amateur saxophonist and studied philosopher Ralph who writes her a very personal song - but his obsession with death and unfaithful lifestyle is not for her.

A Mixed bag of  Jazz-Funk, Jazz-Rock,Smooth Jazz...Vocal etc...but there's some decent tracks amongst
them...plus a few with some nice wordless female vocals (Yes I'm a Sucker for Them!)

Genießen ! !

Comments etc.... Please !

OOP/ NO CD RELEASE.......2 M & M EURO LP'S FOR REVIEW!

FRENCH & CZECH.....JAZZ ROCK,FUSION, FUNK

1st up...Moravagine from France 1975.
Some tracks such as the opener..'Funky Seven'
having a 'Typically French Sound'
I requested an upload of this LP from a popular Blog
numerous times....to no avail. I ended up finding it on
a file storage site I'm registered with (not where it was
originally loaded to from the said Blog)
Thought it deserved re-exposure...So here it is!

Jouir !!

This is available on another blog (not where I originally got it
might I say) but thought I'd post for the dudes that look in on
here...in case you don't have it.
Mahagon from former Czechoslovakia...their debut LP from
1978....some nice occasional wordless vocals from Zdena
Adamova similar to 70's Urszula Dudziak or Flora Purim....
after the extended scream etc on the opening track the LP,
after 40 secs it settles into some nice Fusion.
I have this in 24/192....If there's enough interest I might up it.
Their Second LP from 1980 'Slunecnice Pro VincentaVan Gogha'
I don't think is as good but once again I will Post it if there's
enough Interest and you can't find it.

Uzite Si !!

Your thoughts,Comments etc...would be nice!!
